The Real Africa Trust welcome Benedict Allen, explorer, author, broadcaster and patron of Save the Rhino as their special guest at the Royal Geographical Society for an unmissable evening of survival stories.
Benedict is best known for being the first to record his arduous exploits without a TV crew. He has filmed six TV series for the BBC in all including The Skeleton Coast when he famously spent three and half months crossing the Namib desert with camels. In 2013 Benedict was included in the Daily Telegraph's list of Britain's "Great Explorers"
Also sharing their 'Close Encounters' will be experts from the world of rhino conservation. Anti-poaching dog trainer Daryll Pleasants will give an inside track on the complicated work of the anti-poaching dog squads, the rhino's new best friends in the battle against poaching. This will include equipment taken from the poachers as well as equipment used by the rangers.
Cathy Dean, Director of Save the Rhino will give the latest updates from the field.
