Imaani & Kevin Leo “Soul Mates”

Tonight the 606 Club features two of the finest Soul/Groove singers in the UK, Incognito's Imaani and her good friend Kevin Leo (Down to The Bone), the Soul Mates! A terrific singer in the Soul/R&B tradition, Imaani’s CV is long and impressive. She first came to prominence as the UK’s 1998 entrant to the Eurovision Song contest (one of the better choices!) where she was runner up, and went on to produce a highly successful single that charted around the world. She then moved on to work with Dub Conspiracy (with whom she again charted). Her worldwide tours, television, live and recorded output includes work with the likes of Gloria Gaynor, Carleen Anderson, Michael Bolton, Lulu and Beverley Knight. She was until recently the lead singer with the iconic band “Incognito”, with whom she has had a long association, and she continues to perform with them whenever “motherhood” duties allow. Kevin Leo first started singing in public at the age of 13 and by his mid teens already had performances for the BBC and a Royal Command Performance under his belt. At 17 he appeared on TV's Opportunity Knocks (the previous incarnation of "Britain's got Talent") which led to him working regularly with comedian Michael Barrymore on his live shows. Taking himself off to college to get some solid musical theory behind him he paid his way by singing backing vocals for the likes of Dionne Warwick, Kool and the Gang, Three Degrees, Joe Longthorne, Meat Loaf and M-People. By his mid 20's he was a well established figure in the London session scene, which led him in to artist development and vocal coaching, working with acts and companies such as David Hasselhoff, Pixie Lott, Olly Murs, Chico, Sugababes, Lemar, Kevin Lyttle, McFly. Sony, BMG, EMI, Virgin, Warner and Universal. More recently he has added songwriting and producing to his impressive talents (he in fact produced Imaani's latest album), and if all that wasn't enough he also has 4 solo albums, 4 EP's and 19 singles to his name as well. Oh, and just in case you thought that was it, he is also an excellent poet and painter as well! Two powerful and charismatic vocalists, this is a wonderful opportunity to hear these enormously experienced and highly regarded singers perform with their fantastic band here at the Club.
