An evening devoted to the beautifully observed poetry of W H Auden introduced by Melvyn Bragg
W H Auden (1907-1973) was one of the finest and most influential 20th-century poets. His work ranges from musings on love and reflections on the human condition to light hearted nonsense and passages of unflinching honesty.
The narrator this evening will broadcaster and author Melvyn Bragg, and readers will include actors Joanna David and Lily James
Josephine Hart established her renowned Poetry Hours at the British Library in January 2004, matching leading actors to programmes of the greatest verse in English.
