Wellbeing of Women is a UK charity that funds cutting edge research into women’s reproductive health including fertility, pregnancy and birth; gynaecological cancers, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, period problems, menopause and general wellbeing. Over the last 50 years we have invested over £50m into projects that have led to some amazing treatments and cures for women, babies and their families. Our early research focussed on research to improve fetal monitoring and antenatal diagnosis of conditions such as Downs syndrome, the recommendation that all pregnant women take folic acid, to a grant that showed medicines taken by a mother were very rarely a risk to their baby as a result many more women were able to breastfeed when on medication. More recently research we have funded has led to laser treatment for cervical cancer to funding researchers who found the link between HPV and cervical cancer so that today’s teenage girls are vaccinated to help protect against developing cervical cancer later on to the repurposing of drugs to help treat womb cancer and the menopause to funding for our Harris Wellbeing Preterm birth Centre. More details can be found on our website,

The fair takes place in the historic Drapers’ Hall. Originally the home of Thomas Cromwell, it was forfeited to King Henry VIII on his execution in 1540. In 1543 it was bought by the Drapers’ Guild, destroyed by the Great Fire of 1666 and was rebuilt and altered over the next three centuries. More recently it featured in the 2010 film The King’s Speech.
