The UK’s first Remembrance Art Trail in association with the Royal British Legion

The UK’s first Remembrance Art Trail, in association with the Royal British Legion and constructed with the help of the Corps of Royal Engineers will open in Canary Wharf on Tuesday 1st November. Created by international award-winning artist Mark Humphrey, the trail will consist of seven art installations located in prominent points throughout the estate.

Each piece of work will have a different focus within the wider theme of military experience. They aim to encourage personal reflection and contemplation. The art can be explored in any order, but will come together to tell a powerful visual story of the sacrifice and service by our Armed Forces.

The trail will be open daily and the public will be able to see the pieces throughout the day. The exhibition is free and visitors are encouraged to make a small donation to charity.

All of the pieces are being created here in the UK, using material salvaged from military sources and using some military manufacturing techniques. London based artist Mark is widely known for his engaging and emotive public art. Mark has previously created several large scale artworks for the Armed Forces and military charities, including the marble war memorial poppy, titled ‘Forever’, at Royal Wootton Bassett.

Guide to the Canary Wharf Remembrance Art Trail
1. Lost Armies at Jubilee Park - a work about remembering the fallen and their sacrificies made, for all countries that fought for the British Armed Forces dedicated to The Not Forgotten Association.

2. Boots on the Ground, Water & Air at West Ferry Circus – a work about the spirit and soul of the Britsh Armed Forces dedicated to Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company.

3. ANA (Army, Navy & Airforce) Triptych at Jubilee Plaza – a work about asbtract poppy forms explored within military transport parts of the British Armed Forces dedicated to Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, RAF Benevolent Fund & ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

4. Fallen Soldiers at Reuters Plaza – a work about remembering our servicemen and women during all confilcts dedicated to The Royal British Legion.

5. Point of Everyman’s Land at Jubilee Place (lower level) – a work about war in time and space, moments of battle, peace and the point of Remembrance dedicated to The Poppy Factory.

6. Lost Soldiers at Adams Plaza – a work about healing, remembering and forgiveness dedicated to Stoll

7. Brothers in Arms at Cabot Place – a work about human sacrifice, comradeship and remembrance for all military conflicts dedicated to Combat Stress
