Parasol unit is delighted to host the first edition of The London Children’s Book Fair to celebrate the best of contemporary literature for children. Featuring some of today’s most innovative and imaginative publishers, authors and illustrators of books for children, this family event includes book signings, workshops and a live drawing session.

Admission to the book fair is free for children and adults. It takes place at the Parasol unit galleries on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 December 2016. This showcase of marvellously inspiring children’s books, products and limited editions, is a perfect opportunity to meet their ingenious creators, have favourite books signed, and to buy gifts in time for Christmas!

We are thrilled to announce that Marion Deuchars, the much-loved author and illustrator of Art Play and Bob the Artist, will be signing books and running workshops for children. Be inspired by Jon Burgerman, the Brooklyn-based and award-winning doodler who will introduce his new colouring book Burgerworld. Popular illustrator Alice Bowsher will be in the gallery producing large-scale, live drawings in her own quirkily unique style and will create a Photo Booth to take book-inspired selfies! Exciting activities for children will take place throughout the fair. Make your own book, design Christmas wrapping paper and even design and make a football strip for your favourite team.

We are inviting primary school children from local schools in Hackney and Islington to attend special literary events, including a workshop with Piers Torday, award winning author of The Dark Wild. The London Children’s Book Fair is a great opportunity for teachers, parents and children to discover new books, ideas and designs from internationally renowned publishers, authors, illustrators, arts organisations and charities.
