On Thursday 8th December, the Old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch will play host to live music, local street food and festive cheer as local mental health charity, Mind in the City brings the local community together to raise money for vulnerable older people this Christmas.

Join us at the Old Truman Brewery Forecourt at 91 Brick Lane from 5.30pm and get into the Christmas spirit with a glass of mulled wine and a few carols by brass band Quintetta amongst the Christmas trees from Pines and Needles and plants from Grace and Thorn. Then follow us round to Dray Walk and Ely’s Yard from 6.30pm for a bite to eat, more mulled wine and music from the Hackney Voices Community Choir. There you will find late night shopping events, a mini Christmas Market featuring some of the best of Sunday UpMarket, the Backyard Market and The London Artisan. Our Ely’s Yard street food traders will also be there to feed you. Then get stuck into a festive raffle and silent auction with a selection of fantastically festive prizes, with all proceeds going to Mind in the City.

Working in East London since 1980, Mind in the City has made its number one priority to ensure that anyone experiencing mental health distress receives the support they need. Offering a range of services, the charity aims to promote wellbeing, resilience and recovery in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest boroughs. Sadly, Christmas is a time when mental health sufferers can feel most alone, so this year its charity is raising money for those who fall victim to being lonely during the holidays. Older people within the community as well as those suffering with dementia or Alzheimer’s can be most affected and Mind in the City wants to make sure that no one is isolated, abandoned or outcast.

Entrance is FREE, so please do come down after work for what might be your first mulled wine of the festive season and give something back to your local community.
