Parliament is a popular destination for families and children from all over the world. With its fantastic tours and seasonal events, Parliament offers a unique historical story-telling experience.

Follow in the footsteps of the Queen at the State Opening of Parliament as she leaves the Robing Room and passes through the Royal Gallery to take her seat on the gilded throne in the stunning Lords Chamber. From Central Lobby, the heart of Parliament, enter the intriguing rooms of the Commons before standing in the famous chamber itself, home to Speaker’s Chair, the green benches and some lively political debates.

In St Stephen’s Hall, discover why women's suffrage groups inspired our beautiful contemporary light sculpture, ‘New Dawn,’ and then conclude your tour in iconic Westminster Hall, where the likes of Charles I, Sir Thomas More and Guy Fawkes were tried for treason, and Nelson Mandela famously addressed both Houses.

A special version of the audio tour is available for families with younger children. Check our website for seasonal tours, special events, exhibitions and other ways to visit.

Why not follow your guided tour or audio tour with a stylish afternoon tea? Parliament’s award winning chefs have created a tempting seasonal menu of savouries and sweets made freshly on site which combines tradition with a modern twist. This elegant table service afternoon tea is taken in one of the riverside rooms in the House of Commons. Up to 70 people can be accommodated per sitting.

The price of an Afternoon Tea Ticket is £29 in addition to the price of the tour ticket.

Parliament is open for tours on Saturdays throughout the year and most weekdays during parliamentary recesses. Check the website for times and details, as they can be subject to change
