Ten days of performance, film, music and dance in The Tanks
The first BMW Tate Live Exhibition marks a new departure in the concept of the art exhibition: from a static presentation to an experience of art that unfolds through time. The Live Exhibition will combine installation, performance, film, video, sound, and talks over a period of ten days.
Situated in the full suite of the Tanks galleries, the first edition of the BMW Tate Live Exhibition will bring together an intergenerational selection of artists who have been invited by the museum to stage their work as a space that extends a form of hospitality, or community, to other artists and visitors alike. The artists in the exhibition create images of networks and forms of participation that link the natural environment with social media; organic and technological, human and non-human. Ten Days Six Nights will extend outside to the new South Terrace animating the landscape outside the Switch House for the first time.
Four newly commissioned works by Fujiko Nakaya; Isabel Lewis; CAMP, and Fred Moten and Wu Tsang will exist as both installations and spring-boards for six evenings of live performances. Participating artists include: Melanie Bonajo; Carlos Casas; Ian Cheng; Ligia Lewis; Paul Maheke; Phill Niblock; Emily Roysdon; Daïchi Saïto; Lorenzo Senni; Pepa Ubera, and Ian Wilson among others. The BMW Tate Live Exhibition will operate with two modes: a free daytime installation mode, and an evening mode of unmissable ticketed performances.
