Derren Brown's extraordinary and notorious stage and television shows have re-defined magic, illusion and psychological manipulation, drawing and baffling huge audiences. Nina Conti's superb ventriloquist act, usually alongside her inappropriate sidekick Monkey, is equally astonishing, especially as she is among Britain's finest comedians.
Both performers use time-honoured techniques and could have comfortably graced the earlier theatres celebrated in the British Library’s Victorian Entertainments: There Will Be Fun exhibition. These two brilliantly talented contrasting performers discuss their stage craft at this unique event in conversation with co-curator of the exhibition Christopher Green.
