Sugar Kings Quartet Featuring Flavio Correa

If you're a fan of Latin music (and even if you're not!) you will probably know that the 10 piece Latin band The Sugar Kings, led by the brilliant Cuban percussionist Flavio Correa, is unquestionably one of the finest, and most authentic, Salsa/Son groups in Europe. However, you may not know that they also have a smaller cousin, The Sugar Kings Quartet. Also led by Flav this version features just four of the band but is still one of the most dynamic and exciting Latin groups to play here at the Club. Flav's description of the band really does sum it up best: "From the gambling dens of pre-revolution Havana, where the sweet smell of cigars hung thick in the air and the aged rum flowed, "The Sugar Kings" Cuban quartet present traditional Son, vintage mambo and Cha Cha Cha…with vocal harmonies and much frivolity..."! The Sugar Kings quartet are: Flavio Correa (Percussion), Elpidio Alegria (Baby Bass), David Oliver (piano) and Victor Hechavarria (Trumpet). A rare chance to hear this particular line up at the Club, definitely one for the diaries.
