From January, Libreria will host an evening of readings every month with a variety of literary-themed drinks.

And could there be a better companion for a New Year chrysalis than the author Ernest Hemingway? In this month's install, the bookshop will serve claret, Sancerre and oysters, alongside a selection of readings from this short masterpiece. Considered a sin qua non Parisian memoir, Hemingway's somewhat pecuniary existence is made rich by the company he keeps - detailed with that pared back, limpid style - and the rustic gourmet he cherishes; you can smell the oranges he peels and taste the Loire valley Sancerre he so appreciatively imbibes. As Hazlitt said of Rabelais, this is 'cordial for the spirits'

Tickets include two glasses of wine, plus oysters and canapés. More drinks available on the night.
