Artist duo Kahn/Selesnick present a prolific factual and fictional narrative exhibition titled "Eisbergfreistadt," which will debut for the first time outside the US at Worlds End Contemporary, London, opening on October 1st.

In "Eisbergfreistadt," Kahn/Selesnick address current prevalent issues of global warming and the economy’s downturn in a 1920’s tale. The long time collaborators take a facetious approach visually blurring the boundaries between fantasy, reality, truth, and history while conveying the importance and insignificance of monetary value.

Depicting the realities of an undervalued currency, Kahn/Selesnick’s imagery and artifact-like objects seem all too authentic as the artistic pair simultaneously divulge and distort history through their photographs, representations and pieces of currency, deck of cards, and clothing made of fictitious cash.

Critic Antoinette LaFarge for Visual Communications Quarterly describes "Eisbergfreistadt:"
Kahn and Selesnick’s images prompt us to inspect them for evidence of the conditions of their making, to ask: what was it like to be there? Indeed, one of the truly appealing aspects of these projects is the viewer’s sense that behind every image lies a set of perfectly real (if odd) events. It cannot be accidental that Kahn refers to a project like "Eisbergfreistadt" as a ‘living novel’ in which all of its collaborators are taking part.

The private view will be held on September 30th, 6:30 – 8:30pm at Worlds End Contemporary.

Works will be on sale 1st October – 14th November, Tuesday – Saturday 10 am – 6 pm or by appointment.
