The People’s Supermarket in Lambs Conduit St, London is throwing its door open again for the second of its 2011 People’s Supper Club to be held on the 10th of September. The first event held in April was a complete sell out with guests dining in the aisles until the wee small hours. Costs for the second event are £75 (non members) or £67.50 (members) for a five course meal, wine, coffee and petit fours places are limited to 50.

The People’s Supper Club is the brainchild of People’ Kitchen, who aim to create evenings of inspired food using the best of British ingredients, every item on the menu comes from a sustainable source and produce from the supermarket which would otherwise go to waste. The wines, drinks and coffee are supplied by local suppliers.

The evening kicks off in the Supermarket at 9PM with a talk given by co-founder, Arthur Potts Dawes and guests will be served cocktails and canapés of smoked mackerel mousse and seasonal soup shots. Starters are a choice of British game or vegetable terrine with freshly baked breads. The main menu will be served family style and features, main of black pig hog roast & apple sauce there is also a vegetarian pot roast. Sides include potato Boulangerie, seasonal vegetable and salad of broad beans. For dessert the chefs will be conjuring up a seasonal cinnamon, pear & medlars upside down cake with vanilla crème analgise.
