WAYFARER PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS
A SEASON OF PLAYS
WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY MURRAY WATTS

January sees the London premiere of award-winning writer and director Murray Watts’ series of his plays, first presented at Edinburgh Playhouse’s studio venue during the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and which were widely praised. The plays launch the January season at the Kings Head Theatre.

First Light and Mr Darwin's Tree have been brought together in one evening for The King’s Head. Although quite separate pieces, they are linked by writer, director, cast - and by the themes of love, faith and doubt.

FIRST LIGHT is a timely dissection of trust where innocence and scandal collide. This intense play is highly thought provoking, raising many questions about society today and the rules governing relationships between adults and children.

MR DARWIN’S TREE was commissioned for the bicentenary of Charles Darwin’s birth and charts his extraordinary life, from the Beagle voyage, to the world-shattering publication of the Origin of Species. The play deals with science, faith and doubt in the context of an enduring love story. As with First Light, it will raise many questions about life.
