The concert is part of the London Festival Orchestra's Up Close and Personal series, which showcases internationally renowned artists at the orchestra's home.

Created from two Victorian warehouses, The Warehouse has become the home of one of the world’s best loved orchestras.

The quality of the main studio lends a special intimacy to performances, an exclusive close-up that lingers.

EMMA JOHNSON is one of the few clarinettists to have established an international career as a soloist. In 1984 she won the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition and was a medal winner in the Eurovision Young Musician, which was televised throughout Europe. Later she was to be a winner of the Young Concert Artist Auditions in New York.

Since then she has performed across five continents and her name is known around the world.

CHRIS WEST is principal bass of the London Festival Orchestra. His appearances with the Guildhall Strings as solo double-bass has seen him perform far and wide - from New York's Carnegie Hall to the National Concert Hall in Taipei and his recordings with BMG/RCA and Hyperion are regularly broadcast on the BBC.
