Barbara Windsor is one of the most popular and best-loved actresses in the country – officially a National Treasure! From starring in a string of iconic films in the Carry On series, as well as The Boyfriend and Sparrows Can’t Sing, to finding a whole new audience as Peggy Mitchell in Eastenders, she has had a long and prolific career, and has won countless awards both for acting and lifetime achievement. More recently, Barbara was advisor for and made a cameo appearance as herself in Terry Johnson’s TV film Cor Blimey (2000), the inside story of her relationship with Sid James. In 2011 she was the voice of the Dormouse in Tim Burton’s hugely successful film Alice in Wonderland. She has been awarded the freedom of the City of London, and received an MBE in the 2000 New Years’ Honours.
