Following on from the success of The Wine Dinner at the Savoy this March, Goedhuis & Co are hosting their next fundraising event – the dazzlingly popular summer Rosé Wine tasting, in aid of Starlight Children’s Foundation, a national charity that grants once-in-a-lifetime wishes for seriously and terminally ill children and provides entertainment in hospitals and hospices. The event will be held at the Saatchi Gallery on Tuesday 26th June 2012, from 6.30 to 9.00pm. Now in its third year, Goedhuis & Co hope the tasting will raise £60,000 for Starlight, which is supported in the UK by model Poppy Delevingne, Sienna Miller and Bill Nighy, among others.

This year there will be eight outstanding producers from across France and, excitingly, one from England participating in the event with an entire floor devoted to a stunning array of Champagne and sparkling wine. Highlights to taste include Domaine Bernard Reverdy whose Sancerre Rosé 2010 was recently awarded a “coup de coeur” in France’s leading wine guide the Guide Hachette 2012 and an exciting new addition, Nyetimber Rosé 2008.

The full list of participants includes:

Ch St Baillon showing Réserve du Château Côtes de Provence Rosé 2011
Domaines Ott showing Côtes de Provence Clos Mireille Rosé 2011
Ch d'Esclans showing Whispering Angel Côtes de Provence Rosé and Château d'Esclans Côtes de Provence Rosé 2011
Domaine Bernard Reverdy showing Sancerre Rosé 2010
Ch de Sours showing Ch de Sours Bordeaux Rosé 2011 and La Source Bordeaux Rosé 2010
Laurent Perrier showing Champagne Laurent Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut NV
Billecart Salmon showing Champagne Billecart Salmon Brut Rosé NV
Taittinger showing Champagne Taittinger Brut Prestige Rosé NV
Nyetimber showing Rosé 2008

Goedhuis & Co will be pulling out all the stops to provide a veritable feast of food matched to the wines including quintessential ingredients for an English summer night – strawberries and cupcakes.

Johnny Goedhuis comments, “Although not quite competing with Ascot and Henley, in three short years the Summer Rosé Tasting has become a fixture in the Summer Calendar. It’s a great social event, a great charity event and a great chance to taste some wonderful rosés from the least expensive to the truly great wines of Ch d’Esclans and Domaines Ott.”

Neil Swan, Chief Executive of Starlight Children's Foundation said, "We are really delighted that, for a third year running, Starlight will benefit from this wonderful evening. In addition to providing entertainment in hospitals and hospices across the country, Starlight also grants once-in-a-lifetime wishes for seriously and terminally ill children. Whether it is meeting their favourite football team, having tea with Mickey and Minnie Mouse in Disneyland or being a policeman for the day, a Starlight wish gives a very poorly child and their family something special to look forward to and a happy memory to treasure, whatever the future might hold. Funds raised on the evening will enable the charity to grant magical wishes for many seriously and terminally ill children and we are very grateful to Goedhuis, Savills and Weatherbys for their continued support of Starlight."

The event aims to raise funds through ticket sales, 10% of all wine bought on the night and in a subsequent Rose offer, wish pledges collected by Starlight in which donors are entered into an exciting prize draw, and lastly through a silent auction, which last year included generous lots such as trip for two to the stunning Ch d’Esclans in Provence at harvest time and an evening flight for four in the Taittinger Balloon.

The evening is generously sponsored by Savills and Weatherbys Private Banking. Roger Weatherby, Chief Executive of Weatherbys Bank, said “We are delighted to be a joint sponsor of the Summer Rosé Tasting which is such an enjoyable event for such a worthwhile charity” while David Forbes of Savills adds “the Summer Rosé Tasting evenings for Starlight, a wonderful charity, are a great success and Savills is delighted to be co-sponsoring for the third year running”.

Whilst enjoying the wine and food, guests will also have the opportunity to view “Out of Focus: Photography” – an exhibition running from 25th April to 22nd July 2012, presenting 38 artists who offer an international perspective on current trends in photography, working with the medium in diverse, innovative and arresting ways. Upstairs, guests will be invited to view “Ink”, an exhibition featuring the finest examples of contemporary Chinese Ink art, curated by Asian Art dealer Michael Goedhuis, and running from 19th June to 5th July 2012.
