In honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Bingham in Richmond will be hosting a garden party on bank holiday Tuesday, 5 June 2012 from 1pm until 6pm. Guests will enjoy a quintessentially British afternoon overlooking the gorgeous scenery of the River Thames at the edge of the garden, with classic food, drinks and games.

The menu will follow a “Best of British” theme featuring miniature favourites such as Chargrilled asparagus with soft boiled egg in herb mayonnaise, Welsh rarebit, Rare roast beef with braised lettuce, onion rings and peppercorn sauce; Vanilla rice pudding raspberries, dark chocolate, and Eton mess. Jugs of Pimms will be served alongside special Jubilee cocktails and non-alcoholic fruit cocktails for children.

A jazz band will provide a swinging ambience on the day. For children there will be a selection of games, including an oversize Jenga, Connect Four and Boules, plus a face painting artist.

The garden will be decorated with patriotic bunting, tree decorations and jugs filled with English garden flowers (such as scented stocks), perfect for a typically English afternoon. Obviously, this being Britain, we can’t rely on the weather and so the Bingham will have tables in the Garden Rooms to duck into if the unthinkable happens and it rains!

Ticket price is £22 per adult and £10 per child, including two drinks and food between 2.30 and 4.30pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance by emailing [email protected] or purchased on the day on a first-come-first-served basis. And please don’t forget to bring your own picnic blanket!
