Vocal Tai Chi With Jenni Roditi

The workshop will begin with a circle ‘check in’ where each person can speak about the reason they have come and what they hope to get out of the session – this last about 30 minutes.
We then begin an hour of group warm ups and exercises using body and voice. This will also focus on warming up the heart and mind with some simple awareness exercises.

After a break for tea Jenni will sing some Vocal Tai Chi for about ten minutes. She will then offer individual coaching. Each person will receive ten minutes individual time within the group setting with coaching from Jenni and feedback (always positive) from the group. The workshop ends with a closing circle.

You are in a safe and supportive space to improvise vocally and explore basic Tai Chi.
You will learn how the voice can be navigated with a simple 4 step system.
You can deepen your relationship between your body and your voice.
You will work together with others and learn from and support each other’s voice work.

Jenni has 20 years experience in Voice Movement Therapy and Integral Voice. Indian classical music, Contemporary Extended Vocal Techniques, Free Improvisation, Structured Improvisation, Balinese Temple music, Flamenco, Bulgarian Folk Singing all inform this improvisatory singing style that has recently emerged. Meditation and Tai Chi are part of her everyday life. As a composer her ear is trained to hear the inner life of sound, especially the voice.
