SAY SOMETHING
July 13th-15th at Waltham Abbey, Essex at 9.30pm
As part of LEAp Dance Festival/Big Dance

Contemporary dance company h2dance are proud to present their exhilarating new show ‘SAY SOMETHING’ – a latenight 50-minute music and dance performance featuring the 20-strong h2choir and 6 members of the h2dance company on July 13th-15th 9.30pm at Waltham Abbey Gardens, Abbey View, Waltham Abbey, Essex, EN9 1XQ as part of this year’s Big Dance. www.h2dance.com

presents the highly individual joint choreography of Artistic Directors Hanna Gillgren and Heidi Rustgaard who have consistently entertained and challenged audiences with their clever, humorous solos and duos, company productions and large scale outdoor and interactive dance and music performances. This summer’s production, SAY SOMETHING, is an entertaining and multi-skilled piece that’s guaranteed to delight audiences at one of England’s oldest abbeys where, legend has it, King Harold was buried after the Battle of Hastings in 1066...

Taking advantage of the Abbey’s atmospheric gardens and its romantic location beside the River Lea, h2dance will present SAY SOMETHING, for the first time in the open air; a 50 minute music and dance performance based on a contemporary choral score by composer Sylvia Hallett with projections specially created for the Waltham Abbey Gardens performance by award-winning filmmaker Rachel Davies. Co-choreographed and co-directed by Hanna and Heidi, SAY SOMETHING is an interactive production involving and immersing the audience in vocal and electronic sounds while the performers move in and around them. The choral music will be performed live by 20-25 singers and 6 dancers from h2dance. A live sound score, created on the spot by Sylvia, using sequencing technology, will back up the choir.

Following the critically acclaimed To Die For, SAY SOMETHING looks at group identity, conformism and freedom of expression. Sharing the performance space, the audience and the performers influence the direction and outcome of the work, making each performance unique.

Hanna Gillgren: “Say Something has been a real journey, developing the work with several choirs and singing groups throughout Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Portugal and UK. After performing the work recently in Sweden and Norway, we’re very excited to bring the work to an outdoor UK location at the LEAp Festival and to collaborate with Rachel Davies. Rachel’s visual projection element really lifts the show making it more stimulating for both the artists and the audience.”
