The descent and Rise of Orpheus the bard.” (Poetry and Music)

“The descent and Rise of Orpheus the bard,” is an event that will intertwine poems from “The Hollow Tortoise” (a poet’s collection based on the myth of Orpheus) and some of the finest singer songwriter acts in... the London underground music scene.

Jason McNiff, Joe Wilkes and Simon Stanley Ward are three consolidated singer-songwriters who have prepared an unrepeatable set in response to the poetry of Gabriel Moreno (published poet and musician from the Rock of Gibraltar).

Their performance will be divided into two sections: one narrating the descent of Orpheus into hell and the second recreating, with verses and music, the emotional topographies of Orpheus’ escape out of the abyss and into music and creation.

"THE NIGHT OF MY DESCENT,
I WORE SHADES AND A TIE,
DARK TONES FOR A WALK,
THROUGH THE CONDUITS OF HELL ..."

"SINGING,
I EMBELLISHED THE VISIBLE YOU
WITH THE INVISIBLE YOU,
SINGING,
I WANT YOUR ARMS, YOUR LEGS
AND THE QUIETUDE OF ENDINGS." (GM)

All in all, 1 hour and 30 minutes of entrancing melodies and verse with a 15 minute interval.
