“The most sensational string quartet, super music, inventive comedy and relentless dance energy”… Daily Mail
“A dazzling foursome….a wonderful antidote for those who think that classical music is as staid as stained-glass”… The Times
Graffiti Classics is a comedy string quartet from the UK with a difference. They perform outrageous comedy and mix it up by playing, singing and dancing their way through a mind-boggling variety of well-loved classical, folk, bluegrass and jazz tunes from across the globe. They will be playing in the famous Spiegeltent at The London Wonderground at the Southbank Centre for three nights in July (1st, 7th and 8th) amongst other venues across the UK. Dates below. Their brilliant self-titled EP ‘Grafitti Classics’ is released July 9th.
Graffiti Classics comprises Cathal Ó Dúill on Double Bass, Emma Blanco and Ruth Elder on Violin and Stephen Kennedy on Viola - that's 16 strings, 8 dancing feet and 4 fantastic voices. The group's mission is to innervate the stuffy preconceptions of classical concert-going and make music uplifting, inclusive fun for everyone - young and old. They have already performed sell-out shows at The Edinburgh Festival, taken in a headline set at the 2012 Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans and have appeared at some of the most prestigious theatres and venues across the world, such as The Royal Albert Hall.
