Theme: Conversations with African Male Artists: The role of men in the campaign to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
Senegalese superstar and FORWARD ambassador Carlou D and guests in conversation with Ade Daramy (of Colourful Radio) will discuss the power of music in ending the centuries old practice of FGM.
FGM has affected between 100 - 140 million African women worldwide. These men from FGM affected communities in Africa will share their views and thoughts on how men can play an active role in the campaign to end this practice. They will be focusing on the use of music as a platform for social change and share insights on the way forward. Finally you will have the pleasure of listening to a short acoustic set by Carlou D and guests.
‘Artists have the power to move people and influence decision makers (traditional/religious leaders) and parents in FGM affected communities. We believe in the power of music to spread positive messages and change society.’ FORWARD
