A&D Gallery are pleased to announce an exhibition of Playing Cards focusing on the 1979 “THE DECK OF CARDS” for which fifty six contemporary British artists, were commissioned to contribute to this unique interpretation of a pack of playing-cards. Each card represents the original work of a different artist, together with additional designs for the reverse and packaging.



Although some of the artists are better known than others, all the artists were in public collections either in Britain or overseas. Full details of which are included in each pack.

Notable artists include Patrick Caulfield, Robin Denny, Terry Frost, Allen Jones, Howard Hodgkin, David Hockney, and John Hoyland.



The exhibition will feature playing card designs by other artists, and a recently discovered “warehouse find” of mint packs of “Under The Sea” the 2005 deck of cards created for the Marine Stewardship Council, featuring artists and illustrators including, Anish Kapoor, and Damien Hirst.
