Schubert’s best-loved songs and chamber music works are fascinatingly brought together in the fourth annual festival from resident RCM ensemble the Chilingirian Quartet.

The magpie-like Schubert frequently reused, recycled and reinterpreted melodies from his songs within his instrumental compositions. Building up to perhaps the most famous example – the ‘Trout’ Quintet – this three-day festival gives audiences the unique chance to hear performances of both the original songs and their instrumental reinterpretations, providing a fascinating chance to compare two facets of Schubert’s creative personality.

Each day includes morning, lunchtime and afternoon events in the intimate and evocative surroundings of our Britten Theatre, and concludes with an evening gala concert in the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall.
