Marco Travaglio’s

ANESTESIA TOTALE
featuring Isabella Ferrari

live music by Valentino Corvino
(The show will be performed in Italian)

In Total Anesthesia, the noted Italian journalist looks at Italy today, in the new, post-Berlusconi era: “It’s finally over, he’s gone. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the ground is still radioactive.” The show first opened on April 29, 2011 in Bologna, when he was still talking about an imaginary future. Now the future has become reality: the man who brought Italy to the brink of disaster – aided and abetted by the Center Left – is history. But after being in power for seventeen years, he still casts a long shadow through his media empire.

Travaglio captivates his large and devoted audience through a style that combines loyalty to his beliefs, biting irony, and a sharp memory of what Italy really stands for.

A bare stage, a news stand, a violinist, a bench, and two microphones. Marco Travaglio speaks of a future that is struggling to be born on the ruins of the past and the present. He is flanked by the actress Isabella Ferrari, who reads excerpts from the works of great Italian historian and journalist Indro Montanelli.
