Mardi Gras Mambo presents: The Darktown Strutter’s Ball

It’s Mardi Gras!
Blistering Louisianan soul pulsates through the honkytonk bars of New Orleans weaving its way to Hackney for a Mardi Gras party like no other, with more beads and bedlam than you can shake your tail feather at.

Headliners: Dom & The Iko’s
Savage piano and wailing sax create the unmistakable Crescent City 50’s RnB sound from Ronnie Scott's residents Dom &The Iko’s. Headed up by part-man, part legend, Dom Pipkin (Paloma Faith’s keys player and musical director), an intoxicating live act from the undisputed Kings of the London New Orleans scene.

On support- The Brass Volcanoes
Fresh from vibing up the Olympics- London’s wildest, most in demand six piece brass ensemble are likely to jump into the crowd, saxes roaring and shake!. Expect virtuosity and blazing hot street brass.

DJ Lil’ Koko
One time resident of the Treme, Voodoo Queen of the decks, DJ Lil’ Koko digs deep into her stash of vinyl treasures. Spinning rare New Orleans RnB, jump jive and swing with a few detours into the sweaty Bayous of Louisiana.

Come hungry, leave soulful!
Our resident chef King JJ cooks up the finest gumbo and jambalaya on the night, with cornbread and pralines to fuel our late night frolics.

No one does New Orleans music like Mardi Gras Mambo- a unique collective of pioneering London based musicians, DJ’s and writers who live and breathe all things Crescent City.
