About White Hart Lane - Tottenham Hotspur FC
The club has its beginnings back in 1882, and moved to White Hart Lane in 1899 where they have been ever since. Initially it was land rented from the landlord of the White Hart Lane pub, but since then the club has managed to find the £8,900 needed to buy the freehold of the land. There has been much development and investment since then to bring the site up to the quality it is today. Following the completion of the upper tier on the Paxton Road Members Stand in 1996 the capacity was brought up to over 36,000.
