OK, this is where you make your money back.
Think of all the times you've been to some high-faluting restaurant and been charged £26 for what is, essentially, an omelette. OK, it may have had a truffle waved over the top of it but it still tasted, decidedly, omelette-like.
Well, prepare to redress the balance. The all-you-can-eat restaurant gives you the chance to eat your bodyweight for a fixed price. They may give you a small plate (which will require multiple reloads) and the staff may glare at you like you're taking food from their children's mouths (in some instances this may actually be the case) but who cares... it's time to get some value.
Our favourite all-you-can-eat restaurants
Now that Westfield has arrived in Shepherds Bush the old West 12 shopping centre is overlooked, but Aroma’s Chinese buffet menu is still excellent value. Lunch starts from £6.80 and dinner from £12.50.
This BYO vege haven is a safe space vegetarians, vegans, private parties and non-dairy lassis-lovers.
Fusing Latin and Japanese flavours has proved very popular at this Camden Lock eatery, as it’s buzzing most nights of the week. The music is loud and you sit at sunken tables - £16 will get you limitless sushi and sashimi.
Chefs prepare food in the island-kitchen in the centre of the dining room, and the menu offers a curious mix of Italian, Thai, Indian and Chinese. The best bit is the Wok Station, where you choose your ingredients for them to be cooked to your specifications. Prices start from £8.99 for lunch and £14.99 for dinner.
This chain of Chinese restaurants is absurdly cheap, but if you’re looking for attentive service and haute cuisine steer clear. If on the other hand you like the sound of spending around £6 on limitless portions of stodgy pork balls, sweet and sour, and chicken satay, you won’t be disappointed.
If you're looking for a luxury buffet look no further than the Cookbook Cafe, where for £49 a head you get limitless helpings from the cold buffet, egg station and dessert counter, as well as a selection of hot food to share and unlimited bellinis and/or sparkling wine. Weekend brunch only.
