Adele, Leona Lewis, Amy Winehouse, Jessie J - these are just a few of some of success stories to come out of London's Brit School. Together with fellow students who have gone on to amazing things, these ex students have sold an astounding 65 million albums globally. An incredible achievement.
And on Thursday, Sir George Martin CBE, Culture Minister Ed Vaizey MP and Lord Kenneth Baker of Dorking came together to celebrate 20 years of the establishment based in Croydon, South London.
Speaking of her pride in coming from such a successful school, Leona Lewis commented, "“My time there was invaluable. Being in a creative environment all day, everyday fuelled my passion to have a creative career".
While BPI Chief Executive Geoff Taylor, who was speaking on behalf on the record industry said, "Few British industries can claim to have supported education with anything like the success of The BRIT School. The music industry can be proud of the huge amounts of money and time it has invested in talented young people from all backgrounds, who dream of working in the performing arts."
Here's hoping this landmark birthday and the noteriety that comes with will encourage more youngsters to reach out and do their best at school. If the likes of Leona, Adele and Jessie J can make it happen, so you can you!
