It's all go at Attitude to Food HQ at the moment! I also just agreed a series of workshops and raw food classes at the store ...more news to follow as soon as!! In the meantime, I've had a steady stream of clients recently who have been worried about transfats in their diet, so I thought it would be useful to write a quick note on easy ways to avoid them! We all know that moderation is a pretty good general rule ...our bodies strive to achieve balance and so it's always smart to give them a helping hand by incorporating foods that Mother Nature generously provides ...trouble is by nature of being human, we go and ruin it by giving into temptation for processed foods that couldn't be further away from natural!

Trans-fats are a good example of this. They're man-made with the purpose of creating longer shelf life. Banned in restaurants in New York City because of associations with modern day inflammatory health conditions like cancer and heart disease they're well worth making a real effort to leave out of your diet.

How? :: Avoid margarines. Almost all are highly processed oils and contain trans-fats.

:: Steer clear of processed foods. Stick to whole foods that are close to their original state.

:: Be your own food detective. Always read the label ...and know for sure what's in your food.

:: Avoid food items that list 'partially hydrogenated oil'. That's just another way of saying 'trans-fat'!
