Love it or loathe it, we've got news for you. Christmas is coming! And if you're having trouble getting into the spirit of things (well it's only November after all) then I suggest you head to Hyde Park for a spot of winter wonder.
Set just by the Hyde Park tube entrance, Winter Wonderland opens up a whole world of festive goodness - with a whole range of food stalls, heated bars, a stunning fair (with all the classic rides - Waltzers and Ferris Wheels, anyone?) and the lovely Angel Christmas Market.
And if that's not enough, the infamous Zippo has brought his Circus to the park too. Wit two shows playing each evening, there something for the family (Zippo's Christmas Circus) and something for the grown ups (Zippo's Cirque Extreme)!
But is it really worth the trek into central London?
Definitely. For a start - you can make a real afternoon or evening of it - and it works for both a fun family trip out and for a romantic hour or so stroll. There are tasty foods to indulge in - we particularly enjoyed the Shepherd's Pie, chips and gravy from the Pie stall, but you've also got gorgeous big burgers, fish and chips and plenty of hot dogs and sausages. Oh and for desert there are crepes, waffles and plenty of candy floss. You won't go hungry.
And if you're after something to wash that down with - try a hot toddy, a liqeuor coffee or a mulled wine. And there's one special place we spotted in The Angel Christmas Market that does hot spiced cider too. Mmm. Of course, the kids have the choice of a frothy hot chocolate or other soft drinks.
And if it's gift inspiration you want - the market will bring you a whole host of stunning hand-made items from earrings and necklaces to kitchen accessories, handbags and winter clothing. We didn't leave without a few presents and neither will you.
Finally, there's the ice rink - and what fun that is! Drop off your shoes, grab some skates and head onto the ice for a never-ending session of skating (well, you end it when you want to). Kids and adults alike will lap up the gorgeous festive atmosphere with a bandstand perfectly placed in the middle. It's truly lovely.
So what are you waiting for? Get your beanie and boots on and head on down to Hyde Park - you'll have fun!
Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland is open from today (Friday 18 November) from 5pm - 10pm and from tomorrow until Tuesday 3 January 2012 from 10am - 10pm.
