Each year around the festive season, MTV unleashes a list of some of the HOTTEST new music acts around. These are the acts that are expected to make it BIG in 2012; the people you will be hearing on your radios, watching on TV shows and who will be playing at all the big summer festivals. Last year MTV nominated Jessie J. Look at her now. In the past they have picked out the likes of Lady Gaga, Friendly Fires, Adele and Florence and the Machine - and all long before the world fell in love with them.
But the best thing about MTV's Brand New for 2012 is that we can ALL be a part of the launch of some exciting new artists - and next Thursday 1 December, MTV will be holding a very special showcase at Koko in Camden to celebrate the announcement of their first two nominees.
Hip-hop collective Clement Marfo and the Frontline (who have previously supported Florence and the Machine, Dizzee Rascal and Plan B on tour) will perform alongside young singer-songwriter Angel (who has already written for the likes of Jason Derulo, Roll Deep and Pixie Lott). They will also be joined by former MTV Brand New nominee, Wretch 32, for the headline slot. And once the performances are over, MTV will announce the rest of their finalists.
