Kids in London - Shrek the Third

 The first one was great, the second one was fab and Shrek the Third was just as good.

On arriving at the cinema for the preview today we were disappointed not to receive some ogre ears (demand was high). However, when the ogre actor moved around the cinema he told us to look under our seats and me and my daughter were delighted to find fluffy Donkey/Dragon babies there...ours are called Bananas and Peanut.

To obtain an unbiased view we took along a Shrek Virgin - and despite being a middle aged chap found the film sufficiently funny to laugh out loud. His view was "Surprinsingly good - not as I imagined". So there you are reluctant carers - if you have young kids to take the cinema then Shrek would be an excellent option.

The film has excellent graphics (as usual), the characterisations are fun (all the regulars - Eddie Murphy as Donkey, Mike Myers as Shrek, Cameron Diaz as Fiona, Julie Andrews as the Queen, Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots etc) and there is a fresh storyline in the sea search for Arthur. Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) is a wonderful villain leading a cast of not-so-bad bad guys including Captain Hook, Ugly Sisters etc). Good clean fun - with lots of subtle but very funny jokes that work at a different level for the adults.

The only disappointment was that the music tracks weren't quite up to the earlier films although Snow White doing Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song was a blast.

We urge you to go see Shrek the Third!
