Your essential staycation companion

A Londoner Travels

This year's Good Hotel Guide was published on Monday, a veritable bible of the best accommodation in Great Britain and Ireland featuring the very best hotels, inns and bed & breakfasts from around the nation.

Established in 1978, this 42nd edition features 830 properties from as little as £74 per room per night, all the way up to the finest luxury hotels.

Every year 10 César Awards - named after César Ritz - are awarded to a selection of hotels which have demonstrated excellence in their field. For 2020 these range from North House in Cowes, Isle of Wight, voted Newcomer of the Year, to Argyl and Bute's The Airds Hotel in Port Appin, voted Scottish Luxury Hotel of the Year via B&B of the Year Underleigh House in Hope, Derbyshire.

It's a beast of a tome and a must-buy for anyone keen on a staycation. From cosy boltholes to luxury escapes, I've much enjoyed folding down page corners and highlighting my must visits!

First on my list is a London staycation at previous César winner Artist Residence, followed by weekend escapes to Buckinghamshire's Hartwell House and the new Pig at Bridge Place near Canterbury.
