How often have you listened to a podcast because some recommended it? In the same way a book club can help connect friends or colleagues, we have our very own company Podcast Club at Mags Creative.
Allow me to share how it works in the hope that you, too, will consider setting up a podcast club with fellow podcast-lovers. When we’re socially distanced and more physically disconnected from one another than ever before in the third lockdown, we love that chatting about a great podcast can help us to feel more connected and less alone. Here's how it works. Every fortnight, a member of our team picks a podcast that they love or think we should listen to because it tackles an interesting topic. It’s an opportunity to share viewpoints on important conversations, as well as a great way to discover new voices and styles of podcasts. We then have a (virtual) breakfast date and a good old natter about how we found each episode. Some of the episodes we’ve discussed include:
For an immersive experience
Have you Heard George’s Podcast -Who Am I?
For an audio-rich analysis of contemporary music
Dissect podcast - Compton, K Dot and Kendrick Lamar
For a fascinating conversation about race
Unfiltered with James O’Brien - Akala: race and class in the ruins of empire
For an unfiltered conversation about sex
Brown Girls Do It Too - ‘Popping Cherries’
For a sound-heavy narrative about a short-lived love
The Heart - Hurricane Boyfriend
