PROPER NEAPOLITAN PIZZA HITS PECKHAM THIS WEEKEND

Love London

We love pizza an inordinate amount, so when we were invited down to Peckham Levels for a sneak preview of a new pizza joint this launching this weekend it would have been rude to decline.

While Peckham Levels has no shortage of tasty nibbles, 081 Pizzeria is bringing the authentic taste of Naples to SE15. Named after the Naples area code, it's the brainchild of Neapolitan chef Andrea Ascuiti, pizza connoisseur and one of the guys behind Bravi Razgazzi in Streatham, arguably one of the most well-known pizza restaurants in South London. Andrea is pioneering a fresh and modern approach to traditional Neapolitan pizza, offering a contemporary twist whilst promising artisanal, authentic Italian cuisine using only the finest quality of ingredients.

To add its own contemporary spin, 081 Pizzeria is one of the UK’s first pizza concepts to serve ‘Neapolitan tapas’ - a selection of small tasty snacking dishes inspired from Naples with new, innovative recipes and garnishes. WE nibbled on some pretty epic ‘Frittatina’ (deep fried Italian mac n cheese...) and Arancini, alongside croquettes and Aubergine Parmigiana while waiting for our pizzas, all accompanied with delcious truffle, pesto and carbonara dips. The main event didn't disapooint; the main menu consists of nine pizzas from a classic Margherita to the Maradona with smoke mozarella, Italian sausage and wild broccoli and the Napoli RMX with its crowning glory of an entire burrata on top.

The new site launches on Saturday 1st May for takeaway and delivery, with dine in available from 20th May when Peckham Levels reopens to the public (hurrah!). We'll be back for the puddings - Neapolitan Rum Baba, a Nutella Calzone and a classic Tiramisu. With pizza that good we won't be able to keep away.
