MAKE TIME IN THE DIARY FOR MASSIS LEBANESE

Love London

Paddington Basin has become a foodie destination in its own right in the last few years and one place not to be overlooked is Lebanese restaurant Massis. It's recently transformed both its meny and its decor and the Sheldon Square space is a spacious spot perfect for a snappy lunch or an evening meal. With dishes designed for sharing and a menu of Lebanese classics, get booking for a canalside supper.

We visited last week and enjoyed an utter feast. Start with some of the cold sharers, we loved the moutabal - smoked aubergine purée with sesame sauce and pomegranate seeds, served with crispy bread, and an excellent Mediterranean feta salad, while the cheese sambousek are delicious little pastries filled with halloumi, feta, parsley and pine nuts.

Massis has recently added some Mexican-inspired dishes to the menu, all of which were seriously tasty, but we were convinced they really worked in partnership with the Lebanese flavours. We loved the grilled octopus, with a chimichurri sauce and homemade avodao spinach dip. The 15 hour slow cooked marinated pulled beef, with spicy mayo sauce, was also pretty epic. All in all we couldn't fault the food; it's the perfect spot for a tasty supper and with takeawy available as well, if you work in the area it's a handy lunch stop. There's also a branch in St. Christopher's Place off Oxford Street too if you're more central.
