In the five short years since setting up her eponymous Notting Hill salon, Samantha Cusick has reached the dizzy heights of being one of London’s most in-demand colourists, with a slew of celebrity clients. With a vision of creating hair colours and styles that are wearable every day, her signature balayage is one of high-profile glamour with low-maintenance upkeep.
This month London’s queen of colour has opened her second site in Fitzrovia and we were among the first to visit during its opening week for a seriously indulgent hair makeover. The no-nonsense midlander has designed her second space in her signature style; think kitsch tropical wallpaper, gold palm leaves, elegant mid-century modern furniture and a Tracy Emin quote remade in neon on the wall. Sam’s style is evident amongst the trinkets and knick knacks scattered about - in fact we instantly bonded over our love of a vintage candlestick and a quirky table setting.
Not only are her colour skills second to none - seamlessly blending out my darker roots, disguising the greys and freshening up my earlier summer blonde for the perfect colour update - but her personality is infectious. The salon was abuzz with chatter and it’s undoubtedly not just the skill of Sam and her team that keep clients coming back for more.
If you can bag yourself an appointment, get booked in now. The new Samantha Cusick salon is undoubtedly going to Fitzrovia’s hottest new hair ticket.
