f you've started the year wanting to refresh your barnet, or even to go for a total overhaul, Deptford salon The Bohemians is a sure shot when it comes to slick looking locks. The SE8 space has been around for a few years, but its brilliant stylists, gender-neutral pricing and silent appointments are making waves in the industry.
The space blend industrial with homely, with its huge wooden desks and bountiful plants, healthy bar and a beautiful paradise mural created by a local artist; it's even won awards for its interior design. Cuts and colours aren't priced by gender but by skill and time, while it also uses exclusively vegan dyes and haircare. The relaxing oasis also offers silent appointments if you're not a fan of the chat and the salon prides itself on being 80% recycled, right down to the hairdressing gowns to its products. It's even pledging to be 100% recycled in 2022 by looking at ways to also recycle hair.
This is a creative salon; one look at its Instagram page will show you just how much so, with a focus on incredible cuts and colours, but the talented team can tackle any request. Sal is a wizard with a hair paintbrush; he transformed my dull blonde locks with a reverse balayage and some fresh, chunky highlights, refreshing my look for the new year with a cracking colour that will see me through til summer with minimal maintenance. Just what the hair doctor ordered.
