London is back on the map

London Event Reviews by May B

It is too easy to focus on all that is wrong with this great City so it was cheering to read this week that London was voted (by 160,000 agents) the greatest holiday destination in the world. The report said that it beat New York, Sydney, Barbados and the Maldives. Imagine!

The report suggests that it is due to new venues such as Wembley, O2 and the refurbished Festival Hall and big exhibitions such as Terracotta army and concerts like Prince and Led Zeppelin.

It says that a million watched the Tour de France start. And that London welcomed 15.6m overseas tourists - up 12% on 2005.

Now isn't that a great thought to keep in mind as we curse at the transport and traffic as we struggle into work each morning - that so many people want to come here on HOLIDAY! It also makes you want to shrug off that winter lassitude and get out there and start experiencing some of those wonderful London venues and activities that the overseas visitors travel thousands of miles to see. So stop sitting in front of your PC - go out and enjoy London!
