Public consultation on the future of the western extension of the congestion charge will begin this week.
Londoners are being asked whether the proposed extension should be abolished, altered or kept as it is.
The extension, implemented in 2007 by former London mayor, Ken Livingstone, takes in Kensington and Chelsea.
Current mayor Boris Johnson has promised to comply with Londoners' wishes, describing the consultation as an "exercise in democracy".
The consultation will be in the form of a leaflet outlining the options and containing a questionnaire.
Separately, an "attitudinal survey" would be conducted across London, Mr Johnson's spokesman said, which would further gauge reaction to the scheme.

What does everyone think about this?
Is this a good idea to continue to ease congestion throughout London and also to maybe force people to re-consider using their cars in the face of environmental concerns?
... or is it just another stealth tax from the government to collect more money from road users? ... and if this the case... can people who live in Chelsea and Kensington afford to pay it?
