The All In London Blog

Mick Jagger's famous lips and tongue logohave been bought at a US auction by London’s Victoria & Albert Museum.

The museum acquired the well-known image for around $92,000 (~£50,000) and will reports say it will be placed in the V&A’s permanent collection.

The image was created at the start of the 1970s - at the height of the Stones’ fame - by student John Pasche - and was, apparently inspired by the distinctive shape of Jagger's mouth.

The image was initially used on the Stones' Sticky Fingers album and has been in continuous use by the band ever since.

The V&A’s Victoria Broakes said "The Rolling Stones' Tongue is one of the first examples of a group using branding and it has become arguably the world's most famous rock logo,"

"We are delighted to have acquired the original artwork," she said.
