Andrew Lloyd-Webber's new musical "Love Never Dies" at the Adelphi

The All In London Blog

We were lucky enough to be invited along to yesterday's performance of Andrew Lloyd-Webber's new musical, Love Never Dies. It's a continuation of the Phantom of the Opera story, and follows the original characters to their new home in America ten years after the mysterious disappearance of The Phantom from the Paris Opera House. Christine Daaé accepts an offer to come to America and perform at New York's fabulous new playground of the world - Coney Island. Christine arrives in New York with her husband Raoul and their son Gustave. She soon discovers the identity of the anonymous impresario who has lured her from France to sing. LOVE NEVER DIES is a rollercoaster ride of obsession and intrigue. in which music and memory can play cruel tricks. and The Phantom sets out to prove that, indeed, LOVE NEVER DIES

As was to be expected from Lloyd-Webber, the music was at times absolutely outstanding and really beautiful, whist the performances of The Phantom and Christine's son Gustave were just brilliant. Ramin Karimloo who played The Phantom delivered his performance with such power and honesty that you felt you actually accompanied him on his emotional journey. Alongside these brilliant performances there was also a very strong cast and stunning lighting and other visual effects making it one of the best musicals we've seen.

We hope this production reaches the same audience figures as the record-breaking Phantom Of The Opera before it, as it is clearly the result of writing, composing, and performing genius along with much hard work and so really deserves to do well.
