Love Never Dies

If you say London, you say West End. London is one of the busiest theatre cities in the world. You can see plays, musicals, concerts, all kind of entertainment is offered. I love to visit the theatres in London. On my last visit I saw a play and a musical. I will tell about the play in another blog, this time I want to tell you about the musical I saw. My favorite musical of all time is The Phantom Of The Opera, and when I heard about the sequel I had to see it. And boy, was I lucky. The story has been re-written and the press was invited to see the show on the same night I saw it. That meant that I saw the original cast in their roles. Ramin Karimloo is the best Phantom I have ever seen, and believe me, I have seen a few, both in London and my home country. Sierra Bogges plays Christine, Summer Strallen is a wonderful Meg Giry. If you like spectacle, music, show, and lots of drama, this is the musical to see.

The story starts 10 years after Meg found the Phantom's mask in his lair. You are all invited to visit Coney Island where MR Y created a slice of "Heaven By The Sea". Ofcourse we all know who MR Y is. Meg Giry and her mother are there aswell. They helped him escape and create this place of fun. Then, one day, Christine Daae, Raoul and their son Gustave arrive at Coney Island. When Meg and her mother discover this hell breaks loose, but the Phantom is over the moon to see Christine again. Raoul is broke, and not the man he appears to be. When the Phantom tricks him into a bet, he realize that he loves Christine and that he can't give her what she needs. Christine is torn between the two men, who she both loves dearly. After Christine's performance, her son Gustave is not backstage and she realizes that he is gone. But who took Gustave away from the concert hall? A dramatic ending follows.

I can't tell everything here, as I don't want to spoil things for people who want to see the musical. If you want to know more about the show please visit the official site: http://www.loveneverdies.com/ You can also order your tickets there. Ofcourse there are other places where you can order tickets for this musical, but for some reason I prefer to book tickets at the site of the play/musical. Also because they show you the best seats avaliable in the priceclass you want.

I was absolutely stunned when I saw the decors and the clothing. to be honest, the whole show was amazing. It starts a bit emotional, as the Phantom sings "Till I Hear You Sing". One of my favorite characters was Fleck, one of the freaks. I loved her way of clothing and Niamh Perry, who plays her, has a great voice that suits the character. Summer Strallen was also very impressive. Her song "Bathing Beauty" was one of the highlights for me. The song seems to be made for Summer, who stole my heart after the show, when I met her at the stage door. That is a thing that some people do aswell. A lot of famous faces can be seen in plays and musicals in London. Keep an eye out for them if you plan to visit London. It is always great to see a famous person do something completely else than you expect. This Christmas David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider, Baywatch) played Captain Hook in Peter Pan. I met some of the stars of Love Never Dies, and they were very friendly. My experience with the actors I have met so far are good. They were all very nice.

There is a little "but" in this story. The actors who play the leading roles in musicals often stay for a few weeks, or months and then they move on to something new. So a tip for people who want to see Summer Strallen, Ramin Karimloo, Sierra Bogges and Niamh Perry, take your chance. They leave Love Never Dies in March. Their last play date will be the 5th of March. From March 7 we will see other stars in the leading roles, while the named actors move on to new adventures. Love Never Dies is a musical that really touches your heart. It touched mine for sure.
