Top 5 comedy gigs this week

London's Comedy Blog

Hello comedy fans!

Plenty of great comedy on this week, and these are LondonisFunny.com's 5 top tips:

1. Happy Mondays, New Cross
A friendly pub gig at the Amersham Arms that has recent Buzzcocks star Holly Walsh as its resident MC. Tonight's Happy Mondays welcomes hoary old b*stard Arthur Smith, bright young spark Ian Smith and the exquisite Tom Allen. (Monday)

2. Rich Hall and Friends, the Comedy Store
Weathered grouch and QI regular Rich Hall gets the Comedy Store to himself tonight, the first half performing stand-up and introducing Canadian one-liner merchant Stewart Francis, then in the second half you get Edinburgh comedy-cabaret hit Rich Hall and his Hoedown Band. (Monday)

3. Stewart Lee, Leicester Square Theatre
Stewart Lee begins another of his mammoth runs of gigs at the Leicester Square Theatre, where he will be showcasing material for this latest show, Carpet Remnant World. (Tuesday onwards)

4. Laugh or the Polar Bear Gets It, Hammersmith Apollo
Friends of the Earth’s latest charity fundraiser includes Tim Minchin, comedy behemoth Greg Davies, Russel Howard, gentle oddball Dan Antopolski, Simon Day (The Fast Show), Richard Herring, Josie Long (Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee), charmer Lucy Porter, daft sod Rob Rouse and music from Badly Drawn Boy and more. (Friday)

5. Tommy Tiernan, Leicester Square Theatre
An unapologetic, charismatic performer who has often courted controversy in his stand-up, Irish stand-up Tiernan has a couple of rare-ish dates in London this autumn. (Friday, Saturday)

There we are folks, all these listings and more are on London is Funny.
On Wednesday LiF will also have a competition to win Rufus Hound and Jim Jefferies DVDs, so look out for that, you may get lucky ...

See you next week!
