The Scents of Spring

Love London

Each new season brings with it a wealth of new fragrance releases and this spring is no exception. The perfect time of year to start embracing zesty fresh scents and fruity florals, I've shared four of my favourites below.

DKNY has released a trio of fragrances inspired by every favourite sweet treat, the cupcake. Three delicious foodie flavours have been brought to life in DKNY's signature apple shaped bottles. My choice is Pink Macaroon (left), a delectable confection filled with mouth-watering notes and delicate florals layered over a sensual creamy base. It opens with a mixture of nectarine and kumquat, dipped in a layer of pomegranate, with a rose marzipan accord. An infusion of rich woods and tonka beans creates an addictive foundation that’s sifted in soft ambers. The icing on top? A hint of fluffy flower petals provides the pretty-in-pink finale. The other two scents in the range include Creamy Meringue, a zesty citrus blend of lemon and bergamot with yellow freesia and white amber, and Tart Key Lime with a sparkling lime accord with basil, ginger and violet leaves. £36 each. Available nationwide.

Lanvin's beautiful new fragrance, Jeanne Lanvin Couture (second left) is inspired by the Lanvin runways and creations of Alber Elbaz. The new scent offers a sophisticated variation on the original Jeanne Lanvin fragrance, presented in a beautiful ribboned flacon. The fragrance is enriched with sophisticated top notes of tangy raspberry and violet with a heart combining soft peony and rare essence of magnolia with base notes of Cedarwood and Musk. Delicious. £55.50. Available nationwide.

This year ESCADA celebrates 20 years of iconic Limited Edition fragrances, a house that is synonymous with marking each Spring/Summer season with the release of an evocative and unique fragrance. In celebration of this landmark year, ESCADA is re-releasing the best of the last 20 years, cherry picking three favourite editions that evoke the ultimate halcyon moments of summer. The three re-released ESCADA Spring/Summer Limited Edition fragrances, Rockin’ Rio, Sexy Graffiti (second right) and Island Kiss encapsulate the best of fun times in Rio de Janeiro, New York and the Caribbean Islands. Sexy Graffiti is inspired by the magical summer moment of a late New York afternoon. A bright and wearable red fruity floral fragrance, Sexy Graffiti leads with top notes of wild strawberry and raspberry, brought to life with the sharpness of grapefruit and a subtle mint note. At its heart, enlivening lily of the valley, red peony and violets combine and at the base cashmere, vanilla, and musks provide a rich texture. From £22. Available nationwide.

Stella McCartney's latest offering L.I.L.Y. (right) was inspired by her late mum, Linda, Paul McCartney's nickname for his late wife being Lily (Linda, I Love You). McCartney worked with Jacques Cavallier, the master perfumer who collaborated with her to create the original Stella Eau de Parfum, to create a fragrance that redefined the extremely natural and fresh image of lily of the valley. Infused with notes of truffle from the Perigord region of France to add more depth, with a heart of green and luminous lily of the valley and base notes reveal the earthy warmth of oak moss. A journey through the senses, the scent is masculine and earthy, but still seductive and sensual. From £44. Available nationwide.
