FOUR London - Queens of Colour

Love London

There are probably thousands of hair salons in London, but for perfection in colour form head straight to FOUR London. It's well documented that I change my hair colour more than some people change their bedsheets and without fail will be brunette in winter and blonde in summer. Lo and behold, with thoughts of sun on the horizon I recently paid a visit to reignite my love of being blonde.

FOUR London was founded, funnily enough, by four of Mayfair's leading hair colour specialists: Brooke Bohan, Maleeka Taher, Charlie Double and Denise Arnold. With over 40 years' experience in colour correction and colour maintenance between them, the ladies established FOUR London with aim of making it London'd number one hair destination.

Situated smack bang in the middle of Conduit Street, mere footsteps from the bustling hub of Oxford Circus, the salon is surprisingly tranquil, decked out to the pinnacle of luxury. I was greeted and whisked into a chair, and when my colourist realised I didn't bring any inspirational snippets from magazines I was provided with an iPad full of photos of every shade and hue imaginable. Based on my natural colour and the ombre I'd had in January, we decided on an Aniston-eque honey hue and I was left with a stack of glossies to pore through while my colour was mixed up.

Snaps for my colourist - I may have uber fine hair but I have a LOT of it; it took two and a half hours just to put in all the foils - the woman deserves a medal. I indulged in an extremely delicious prawn and avocado sandwich and a glass of freshly squeezed apple juice while my colour developed and following a wash and delicious head massage I was a treated to a fabulously bouncy blow dry. Having poker straight hair that never plays ball, it was joyous to walk out of the salon with big, bouncy, flicky hair of which any Mayfair lady would be proud.

FOUR London's aim is to cultivate a colour specialist salon that provides much more than just hair and beauty services. They want somewhere clients can feel 'at home' the minute you walk through the door; a non-intimidating, hassle-free environment where you can 'chat if you choose or contemplate if you prefer' - and that's exactly what they have achieved. I left walking on a cloud, with gorgeously glossy blonde locks the likes of which I haven't seen for a while. Two weeks later and the slight brightness had muted slightly and I am completely in love with my new colour. Now all I need is a tan to show it off to it's full potential...
