APP NEWS: LeKiosk brings your favourite magazines to your iPad

London Art Scene from The Art Stop

Whether you're heading off on holiday or keen to build up your range of reads during your commute into work, new iPad app LeKiosk could be perfect for you.

LeKiosk brings the newstand into a 3D format, allowing you to download a whole host of magazines from Glamour and Good Food to Conde Naste Traveller and Men's Fitness direct to your iPad, in preparation for those long journeys or bed-time.

Once you've downloaded the free app onto your device, you can spin the newstand around to get a feel for which titles are available (this is surprisingly fun - thank goodness for 3D). There are both lifestyle and specialist names up for grabs.

Price-wise, you get 10 download credits for a fee of £9.99. The result; instead of having to lug around magazines, you'll have everything on your reading list just on the other end of your finger (literally).

The only downside is that not all publishers have signed up to the service yet - which means there are only limited publications available. Conde Naste are fully on board, but others such as Bauer, IPC and Northern & Shell aren't - so if it's purely celebrity gossip you're after, you won't find those mags here. Newspapers are also yet to join the app, but this doesn't really matter if you like a good monthly magazine or something more specialist. Plus, it still cuts a bulk of weight out of your bag - even if you are downloading just a couple of titles.

The idea should catch on to many more big-name brands in time - they'd be mad not to get involved in an exciting app like this - but it doesn't hurt to say you were on board with LeKiosk in the early days, eh?
